In Today’s post we are going to be going over some Inhalation Techniques, their proper use and when you should be doing one or the other and why there are different techniques.
And some tidbits about the Alkaline, More natural Nicotine source that is Liquid & Salt Nicotine.
First, something often asked and somewhat confusing to some people is that there are different ways of puffing on your vape to get very different results.
A lot of the time it’s thought that there is one proper way of inhaling the vapor of an E-Cigarette, but in reality they break down into different methods for different vaporizer setups.
In Vaping there are primarily three different ways with variations in between, the first two being:
This is the classic cigarette inhale, you take the Vapor into your mouth and then inhale down into the lungs. How humans have inhaled since the dawn of time.
This is primarily something done by beginner, but this is the recommended way of inhaling small, airflow restrictive high-ohm setups. It gives a nice throat hit from the inhalation and a good level of nicotine absorption in the mouth before being inhaled.
Mouth-To-Lung works best with small, low-power, high-ohm devices and high nicotine mg juice. The recommended way of inhaling and using Salt Nicotine juice.
It’s the most seen, most easy to learn and at this point in people — downright second nature to inhale something this way, which is why small devices are recommended for beginners among many reasons.
The opposite of Mouth-To-Lung in terms of results and application is Direct-To-Lung inhaling.
Direct-To-Lung works best with high-power sub-ohm devices using low nicotine mg juice and a non-restrictive airflow. This is generally how one would inhale a Double Coil RDA’s vapour.
You use more force and use your diaphram from the start of the inhale, pulling harder and not letting the vapor sit in the mouth long and usually actually not pulling much deeply into the lungs.
It’s a much quicker, harder and faster on the inhale and exhale than the Mouth-To-Lung and is optimal for low nicotine juice (Your getting your nicotine via a bigger cloud aka more juice vaped at once.)
These are the two main ways of inhaling, but what is the science and how is the nicotine in E-Cigarettes / Vaporizers absorbed? What’s better?
Well, the Nicotine used in E-Juice and E-Liquids is covered quite a few places here on the site in the F.A.Q and Vape 101 Guide. But it’s not like Cigarette Smoke, one doesn’t need to actually inhale Vapor into their lungs to receive nicotine.
Actually, you see, Reconstituted tobacco is chemically engineered to work in the lungs and with the other chemicals produced in the many thousand destructive byproducts of Cigarettes, boost it’s absorption specifically in the lungs.
But, the more natural albeit synthetic nicotine in Vaporizers are Alkaline and absorb through your mucus glands via H20. Cigarette smoke doesn’t allow the Nicotine to be absorbed anywhere but deeply in the lungs.
So, you actually get more nicotine by NOT INHALING AT ALL. Holding the vapor in the mouth / nose with an E-Cigarette.
And here’s where the third variant of inhaling comes in:
The way people smoke luxury cigars! You aren’t supposed to inhale it as Cigars Nicotine (Derived and less processed albeit still very bad for you.) like the Nicotine found in E-Juice and E-Liquids is more Alkaline and you don’t actually get more Nicotine by inhaling.
Doable with mixed results with either high-ohm or sub-ohm, low-power or high-power devices. It’s the healthier, more efficient way of taking nicotine in. Although you don’t get any throat hit obviously and it offers a much different experience than inhaling.
Another little thing about Alkaline Nicotine is that it isn’t absorbed nearly as fast as Cigarette Smoke that is inhaled. E-Liquid and E-Juice Nicotine takes longer to absorb than a cigarette due to their few ingredients, larger molecules (Alkaline Water Molecules that don’t lead to tar / byproduct buildup in the lungs.)
It takes time for the Alkaline Nicotine to sit and be absorbed by your Mucus Membranes and you usually don’t feel the nicotine until 5 – 10 minutes after vaping.
It’s very different than a Cigarette. This again, confuses people and some people get their first impression of a vaporizer by chain-vaping and getting sick from a Vaporizer because they “Didn’t Feel The Nicotine” until they consumed far too much in a 10 minute span and it hit them almost all at once.
Vaporizers, E-Cigarettes, Vapor and Liquid, Salt Nicotine are SAFER ALTERNATIVES. One needs to understand that especially with Liquid Nicotine, that especially in smaller concentrations and Direct-To-Lung that it takes time for the nicotine to “Hit You” and it isn’t as quick as a normal Cigarette.
So, that concludes some points on Nicotine and the different Inhalation Techniques and when to use them.
